Huskies Football Player is a 2012 Mini Maxwell Winner

Winners are selected based on three major components: athletic ability, academics and community service.

Senior offensive lineman Seamus Weldon of the Matawan Huskies is a winner of the 2012 New Jersey Mini Maxwell.

The honor is awarded to football players who have exceptional athletic ability, excel in the classroom, and volunteer in the community, according to Matawan Football Coach John Kaye. The Mini Maxwell Award is a high school version of the Maxwell Award, which is bestowed annually on a college football player.

"He is truly a leader by example," Kaye said of Weldon. "He's the epitome of the word, 'student-athlete.'"
