All Star Huskies To Host State Championship

The Matawan Aberdeen Babe Ruth League 11U All Star Huskies beat Manalapan in the District 11 Championship Game

The Matawan Aberdeen 11U 50/70 All Star Huskies will host the state championships at Toomer Field for the first time ever after beating Manalapan 17-10 in the 2011 Cal Ripken District 11 Championship game last week.

The win over Manalapan was not an easy one. The Huskies were down 4-1 in the second inning but rallied back to make the score 8-4.

The third inning saw Matawan take an even greater lead with a two-run homer by Mathew Fitzsimmons making the score 10-4. Manalapan was hardly finished, rallying back to tie the score at 10-10 in the top of the fourth. Matawan again went ahead in the bottom of the fourth when John Carelli singled and scored later in the inning on a RBI single by Derek Jordan.
