Union Beach Woman Charged with DWI After Accident on Lower Main Street

Police say she was driving while intoxicated when the accident happened

A Union Beach woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after an accident Saturday night in Aberdeen Township.

Police say that Sharon Brabant, 62, was driving on Lower Main Street near Central Avenue at about 9:12 p.m. on April 28 in a 1999 Toyota when she crossed into oncoming traffic. Brabant's Toyota collided with a 1999 Ford pickup driven by Jose Reyes, 23, of Matawan, according to Chief of Police John Powers. 

Brabant suffered injuries to her mouth and chest during the accident and was transported to Bayshore Community Hospital by South Aberdeen EMS, Powers said. Reyes and a 24-year-old passemger were not injured.

Brabant was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to keep right, according to police.
