Sayreville Man Arrested on Drug Charges in Matawan

Police say he was in possession of heroin and a hypodermic needle

A Sayreville man was arrested on drug charges after Matawan Borough Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Beachwood Terrace.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Sept. 11, when officers arrived at the scene, they saw Robert Knapp, 21, of Sayreville leaving. Knapp was stopped and was found to have heroin and a hypodermic needle on him, according to Lt. Ben Smith.

Knapp was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, and improper disposal of a hypodermic needle. He also had active warrants for his arrest in Old Bridge Township.

Bail was set at $2,500 and he was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.
