Police Blotter: Person Posed as JCP&L Representative at Aberdeen Business

A look at police activity in Aberdeen Township between May 1 and May 7, 2013.

The Aberdeen Township Police Department responded to or initiated 324 calls for service between May 1 and May 7, 2013, including nine suspicious persons/vehicles; eight alarms; 19 first aid calls; twelve motor vehicle crashes; three thefts; one domestic violence incident, six disorderly persons, one assault, two burglaries, four noise complaints, and 122 motor vehicle stops, according to Police Chief John Powers. Officers also issued 84 motor vehicle summonses.

The Aberdeen Township Police made the following arrests May 1, 2013 through May 7, 2013:

  • P.O. Darryl Richardson arrested a 26-year-old Old Bridge woman on a contempt warrant out of Aberdeen municipal court on May 1. 
  • P.O. John Zeller arrested a 47-year-old Aberdeen woman on a contempt warrant out of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office following a motor vehicle stop on Highway 35 on May 1.
  • Special Officer Michael Scarpa arrested a 39-year-old Aberdeen man on a contempt warrant out of Old Bridge municipal court on May 1. 
  • A 17-year-old township youth was charged with robbery and simple assault related to an incident on Highway 34 on November 21, 2012.  Det. Louis Nanna was the arresting officer.
  • Sgt. Matthew Lloyd arrested a 23-year-old Old Bridge man on a contempt warrant out of Aberdeen municipal court on May 3.
  • P.O. Matthew McDow arrested a 38-year-old Aberdeen man on a contempt warrant out of Marlboro municipal court on May 3.
  • On May 4 a 22-year-old Aberdeen woman was charged with shoplifting at the Shop Rite store, Lloyd Rd.  P.O. Anthony Marone was the arresting officer.
  • P.O. Gus Grivas arrested a 51-year-old Texas woman for trespassing and a contempt warrant out of Aberdeen municipal court on May 7.

  • On May 1 P.O. John Zeller responded to a report of disorderly persons on Beverly Drive.
  • On May 2 the owner of a business in Aberdeen Townsquare, Hwy. 34, reported that someone representing themselves as a JCP&L employee attempted to collect payment under false pretenses.  P.O. Gus Grivas investigated.
  • On May 3 a Matawan Terrace resident reported her boyfriend took her car without her consent. Special Officer Ronald Osadacz responded.
  • P.O. John Young investigated an assault on Cliffwood Ave. on May 3.
  • On May 5 two individuals shoplifted items at the A&P, Hwy. 35.  P.O. Jeffrey Griffith investigated.
  • On May 5 someone spray-painted affront door on a Deborah Lane residence. P.O. Matthew McDow responded.
  • On May 6 an employee of the McDonald’s, Hwy. 35, reported harassing phone calls. P.O. John Young took the report.
  • On May 6 Special Officer Ronald Osadacz responded to a report of identity theft on Bayview St. 
  • On May 7 a Canfield Lane resident reported receiving suspicious phone calls. P.O. Anthony Marone responded.
