A pain management doctor in the Morganville section of Marlboro was raided by authorities last week, according to neighbors in the area.

Marlboro police confirmed officers assisted with the operation at Dr. Philip C. Pollen's practice, but could not comment further.

"It wasn't our operation, we just assisted because it's in our town," Cpt. Bart Lombardo said.
A spokesperson for the Office of the Attorney General said, "As is our office policy, we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation."

It is unknown what was taken during the raid or where the investigation stemmed from, but a sign on the door of the Route 79 practice indicates Pollen has "voluntarily suspended" his license and cannot prescribe medication until further notice.

The note, dated July 24, further advises patients to contact a primary care physician, another pain management doctor or an area hospital for emergency situations.

There is no sign on the small house to indicate a doctor practices there. According to property records, Pollen operates from a South Amboy location as well.

A phone call to Pollen's office was not returned.
