A New Jersey grand jury voted to indict a Keyport man on charges he sexual assaulted a minor, according to court documents.
Investigators say Pedro Rivera, 33, of Keyport, sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl in early July 2012 while she was under his care.
Rivera was arrested that same month by Keyport detectives Shannon Hyman and Joe Rendina, as the result of an investigation conducted alongside Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Det. Michael Camponella, Chief George Casaletto.
Rivera was indicted on a total of four charges, including first degree aggravated sexual assualt, second degree sexual assault and two counts of second degree endangering the welfare of a child.
An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that the jury voted there was enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
