Church Street Closed While NJ Natural Gas Repairs Leak

Repairs for a gas leak requires part of Church Street to be closed

Update on Feb. 6: Repairs have been completed and Church Street is now open.

A section of Church Street from Lloyd Road to Atlantic Avenue in Aberdeen remains closed this afternoon due to a break in a New Jersey Natural Gas Company main.

The break is under a county owned bridge over Mohingson Brook in Aberdeen. Crews from J.F. Kiely Construction of Long Branch are making repairs that include replacement of 170 feet of a 6-inch gas main that runs under the pedestrian walkway portion of the tinder bridge. The pipe is old and had corroded in several places.
