Two Old Bridge men are accused of robbing a pizza delivery man at gunpoint in Aberdeen Wednesday night, according to Chief John Powers.

Police say an employee of Domino’s of Matawan was returning to his car around 11 p.m. after making a delivery in the Barrington Gardens apartment complex when he was approached by two men. The victim told investigators that one of the men pointed a handgun at him and demanded money.

Both then allegedly fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and the victim’s cell phone.

At about 1 a.m., the Old Bridge Police Department alerted Aberdeen that they were taking two men into custody who may have been involved in the robbery, according to Powers.

Bail for Perez and Slade was set at $375,000 each with no ten percent cash option for posting bail. They are being transferred to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of bail, according to Powers.

A 2006 BMW was also seized pending forfeiture proceedings.

The investigation is ongoing. According to Powers, it is too soon to say if Perez and Slade had any involvement in similar robberies in Aberdeen and Middletown.

Officer Roger Peter, Sgt. David Mauro, Detective Sgt. Michael O’Dwyer, Detective Louis Nanna, and Detective Sgt. Hank Chevalier conducted the investigation.
