Aberdeen PD Blotter: Shoplifting, Harassment

Aberdeen Township Police activity from Sept. 16 to Sept. 18

Officers responded to or initiated 145 calls for service between Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, including one domestic violence incident, four suspicious persons or vehicles, four alarms, three first aid calls, five motor vehicle crashes, three disorderly persons calls, and forty-five motor vehicle stops, according to Chief of Police John Powers.

Here is a list of police activity, as reported by the Aberdeen Township Police Department:

  • Officer Darryl Richardson investigated a report of a violation of a restraining order on Greenwood Avenue on Sept. 16.
  • A business on County Road reported three incidents of customers issuing bad checks on Sept. 16. Officer Darryl Richardson investigated.
  • Officers responded to a report that an individual shoplifted $225.00 worth of merchandise from the Stop and Shop store, Highway 34, on Sept. 16. The suspect is described as a male in his mid-30s with short hair wearing gray shorts, a black jacket, and a tan hat. Officer Gus Grivas investigated with assistance from Sgt. Frank Sigismondi.
  • Gertrude D. O’Rourke, 74, of Aberdeen, was charged with
    careless driving after a motor vehicle crash on Cambridge Drive on Sept. 16 at 5:15 p.m. There were no reported injuries. Officer Brian Alberti investigated.
  • Officer Christopher DeSarno responded to a harassment complaint on Wayside Drive on Sept. 16.
  • Officer Raymond Campbell investigated a harassment complaint at Matawan Regional High School on Sept. 16.
  • Marcy L. Johnson, 32, of Union Beach, was charged with failure to keep right after a motor vehicle crash on Amboy Ave. on Sept. 16 at 10:34 p.m. Officer Brian Alberti investigated.
  • Officer Roger Peter responded to a disorderly persons incident at Belaire Court on Sept. 17.
  • Chanse M. Allen, 23, of Newark, was charged with careless driving, unlicensed driver, driving while suspended, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident after a motor vehicle crash on Highway 35 on Sept. 17 at 3:33 p.m. There were no reported injuries. Officer Matthew Lloyd investigated.
  • Officers responded to a report that an individual shoplifted $50.00 worth of merchandise from the CVS store, South Atlantic Ave., on Sept. 17 at 8:20 p.m. The suspect is described as a male in his 20s, 5’8” to 5’10”, 165-180 lbs. with a brown crew cut wearing tan khakis, a brown jacket, red t-shirt and white sneakers. Special Officer Michael Sullivan investigated.
