Update: Aberdeen Patrol Car Involved in Accident in Keyport

Both cars were towed from the scene after colliding near Nappi Road and Broadway

An Aberdeen patrol car and a pick up truck were involved in an accident Wednesday at about 6 a.m. at the intersection of Lloyd Road and Broadway in Keyport.

According to Keyport Chief of Police George Casaletto, Aberdeen Sgt. Darrell Oliver was traveling north on Broadway and was turning left onto Nappi Place, a short piece of road that connects Broadway and Maple Place, when his patrol car struck a pick up truck driven by Anthony Bruno, 54, of Aberdeen. Bruno was making a right off of Nappi Place onto Broadway.

Oliver was transported to Bayshore Community Hospital while Bruno was transported to Raritan Bay University Medical Center. Both were treated and released, Casaletto said.

The intersection remained closed for about three hours while the Keyport Police Department, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Team investigated the accident.

The large response was to ensure a fair and unbiased investigation, Casaletto explained.

No summons have been issued at this time and the accident remains under investigation, according to Casaletto.

Sgt. Michael Ferm is was the investigating officer from Keyport, assisted by Det. Edward Crecman of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
