Obituary: Marty Greene, 65, of Matawan

Marty served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant.

Martin “Marty” W. Greene, 65, of Matawan, passed away, Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.  

Born in Newark, he resided in Roselle, moving to Matawan 27 years ago. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Kean University in computer science. Marty served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant.  He worked as a computer consultant with EJR Computer Consulting, Hoboken; and then as a computer programmer with Merck, Union. Martin was an avid golfer; and a member of the DGA Golf Association. He loved the Yankees and the Giants.

Martin was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Helen Rudy Greene; and a brother, Alan Greene. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine A. Runge Greene; a son, William Greene of Matawan; a sister, Fran Greene of AZ; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Karen Runge; two nieces, Allison and Jennifer; two nephews, Fred and Brian; and his buddy, his dog “Toby.”  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited Sunday, February 17, 2013, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735 and  Monday, February 18, 2013 tba AM, with a tba AM service at the funeral home. Thanks to all the wonderful nurses at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in the SICU and Northwest Pavilion for taking such wonderful care of Marty. They are truly angels and we appreciate everything they did for Marty in his final days.
