Local Memorial Day Observances
There are many ways to honor fallen soldiers this weekend

The borough of Matawan will be holding its annual Memorial Day Parade on Sunday May, 27, 2012. All veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces are invited to march in the parade. The parade steps off from the St. Clement Church parking lot at 2:00 p.m. and marches along Rt. 79 to Main Street in Matawan, ending at Memorial Park where there will be a brief ceremony.

Aberdeen Township Memorial Day Service
Aberdeen Township will hold a Memorial Day service at 10:00 a.m. at the township municipal building.
VFW Post 4745 (699 Cliffwood Avenue, Aberdeen) will hold a Memorial Day Remembrance on Monday, May 28 starting at 12 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the hall immediately following the ceremonies.

Keyport Memorial Day Parade
The Keyport Memorial Day Parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 28. The route will start at Butler Street and Broad Street, near Maple Place. It will then proceed down Broad Street and make a left on West Front St. It will end at West Front and Beers Street.
The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation will hold its Memorial Day ceremony on May 28 at 11 a.m. at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Holmdel. The guest speaker at this year's ceremony will be Major General William D. Razz Waff. The ceremony will also include the presentation of two scholarships to New Jersey high school seniors and the induction of five Vietnam Veterans into the Memorial's "In Memory" Program.
National Moment of Remembrance
Pause to honor Americans who have died in all wars at 3 p.m. local time. The National Moment of Remembrance was established by Congress in 2000. The Moment is an act of national unity for a duration of one minute and it is observed at Major League Baseball games and Nascar events, among many others venues.
