Flood Damages Ravine Drive, Aberdeen Road

Monmouth County to fix both areas

The Monmouth County Bridge Division repaired a section of Ravine Drive, which runs along Lake Lefferts in Matawan, today, Aug 15.

Traffic between Wykoff Street and Matawan Avenue was limited to one lane at about 11:30 a.m. as the crew worked to mend the damage caused by the heavy rain and flooding the area experienced yesterday.

Aberdeen Road, which runs over a section of tidal marsh in Aberdeen, was also damaged by the high water levels.

According to Joseph Ettore, a Monmouth County Engineer, the water washed away soil from both roads and created potholes that have a high potential to grow larger.

Ravine Drive is a county road, known as County Road 6A. Aberdeen Road belongs to Aberdeen Township, however the bridge that crosses over the tidal marsh belongs to the county, according to Ettore.

The Bridge Division will repair the damage on Aberdeen Road today, after the project on Ravine Drive is complete, Ettore said.
