Aberdeen Will Hold 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

Residents of surrounding towns are welcome

Aberdeen Township will hold a memorial ceremony the morning of Sept. 11 at the township municipal building at 9:30 a.m. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks that claimed approximately 3,000 lives, including the lives of five Aberdeen residents.

The local fire departments and emergency medical service squads will depart their stations and arrive at the municipal building for the start of the ceremony. There will be a Police Honor Guard Invocation, opening remarks and greetings, some words from a fire department chaplin and a song by the Matawan Regional High School Choir. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will also take part in the remembrance, according to Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini.

There will also be a rose and wreath ceremony at the conclusion.
