Dollar Tree Employee Injured During Robbery in Aberdeen

A 53-year-old employee of Dollar Tree in Aberdeen suffered a hip injury when she was grabbed, dragged and robbed Thursday night, according to Police Chief John Powers.

The victim and a coworker were leaving the Route 34 store at about 10:30 p.m. when a man grabbed the victim, dragged her into the parking lot and robbed her of purse and the night deposit for the store.

The man then fled on foot down Cambridge Drive and then onto Canfield Lane, according to Powers.

Police searched the area but were unable to find the man.

The alleged robber was described as a light skinned black or Hispanic male wearing only a ski mask and saggy, dark jeans, according to Powers. He was described as a thin build and estimated to be 150 pounds and 5'10".

The victim was transported to Bayshore Community Hospital for treatment of her hip injury.

​Officer Edgar Serrano and Sgt. David Mauro investigated the incident and Detective Manny Carabel is continuing the investigation.
