Meet Lucas, A Dog Who Survived Sandy

With his owner's home washed away in the storm, Lucas is looking for a loving family to take him in.

Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue (CODAR) is an Aberdeen-based, non-profit canine rescue group that takes in dogs from high-kill shelters and puppy mills along the east coast and works to find them any necessary medical attention, foster care and a forever home.

This week CODAR has sent Patch twelve dogs looking for a permanent, loving home. Information on each dog is included in the photo caption as well as listed below. If you are interested in adopting any of the animals in the slideshow, fill out the application online at www.castle-of-dreams.com.

Griff

Griff is a Brussels Griffon mix who just arrived in the Castle of Dreams and is looking for his forever home. He was saved from a high kill shelter, weighs less than 20 pounds and very adorable. We’re not sure how he ended up in a shelter, because he’s the sweetest thing.

El Paso

El Paso is a female orange and white pure bred Beagle who just arrived in New Jersey. She’s on the small side as Beagles go and is very affectionate. El Paso will make a great addition to the right family.

Maverick

Maverick is a 5-year-old Chow mix. He is housetrained, does NOT chew things that are not his toys and has not had any accidents in the house (he will and can hold it to go outside.) He is pretty easy to take care of. He loves to be pet and will find any opportunity to lay his head on your leg and nuzzle in. He also loves to play in the yard. Maverick would be great in a home where there is a yard for him to run. He has so much life and love in him. He is so mellow.

Mikie

Mikie spent his life in a puppy mill as a breeder. He’s a happy guy and hopes to find a new home and someone to love and care for him. He’s dreaming every day of a warm bed and his very own person to cuddle.

Lucas

Meet Lucas, a Sandy survivor dog who was given up by his owner due to losing her house and not being sure of the future.  He is one year old as of January 7th.  The adopter of this beautiful Maltese should be willing to work with Lucas as he is still a puppy and that means chewing and other puppy traits but also with lots of loving, on your lap and kisses!!!  He is about 7 lbs. and full of energy!!!  Gets along with other dogs and is loved by his foster mommy.  If you are willing to put in a little time with this ball of energy please fill out an application and give him the home he so deserves.  He is neutered and up to date on shots
