Two Indicted for Alleged TD Bank Loan Scam

A Monmouth County Grand Jury has decided two people, one of whom police say fraudulently posed as TD Bank loan officer in order to perpetuate a scam, should stand trial.

Jarred K. Harvey, 22, of Neptune; Yvelisse Lopez, 27, of Asbury Park were indicted on May 16 for their involvement in a bank loan fraud in Feb. 1-4 in Aberdeen, Old Bridge, Tinton Falls, Bradley Beach, Asbury Park and Neptune.

According to investigators, the pair worked with another unidentified partner to impersonate TD Bank officers and convince two victims that they had qualified for bank loans at TD Bank.

In order to get the money, the victims were directed to open accounts at their local bank branches. After the victims opened the accounts, the alleged conspirators asked for their ATM cards and PIN numbers so the bank loan money could be deposited into the accounts. At that point, stolen bank checks from two other victims were deposited into the accounts.

Five checks worth $22,500 with forged signatures were deposited by Harvey in a TD Bank branch on Feb. 4, 2012, .

Harvey was indicted on one count of conspiracy, two counts of impersonation, one count of presenting forged checks, and one count of attempted theft by deception. Lopez was indicted on one count of conspiracy. All are third degree crimes.

An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that formal charges may be brought against the individuals named in the indictment.
