Aberdeen Day 2012 Includes Multiple New Events

The day will also end with a bang. Yes, you read that right, there will be fireworks!

Aberdeen Day 2012 is shaping up to be an action-packed celebration of the township and its residents.

From noon to 4 p.m., Matawan Regional High School will play host to several longtime favorites, including a classic car show, displays of emergency services vehicles and equipment, entertainment, children's rides, vendor booths, informational displays by local non-profit organizations, food concessions, and a crafts fair. This year, there will also be a salute to Armed Forces veterans.

The celebration at the high school will be augmented by a series of new events at locations around town, including: there will be a fishing contest at Cliffwood Beach from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; day-long sidewalk sales, cooking demonstrations and other special events at participating shopping centers on Route 34; an Aberdeen’s Got Talent competition from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the AMF Shopping Center on Route 34; and a ‘Mayors Trophy’ softball game between Aberdeen’s fire companies and the police department  at Fireman’s Field at 7:30 p.m., immediately followed by a fireworks display at the field.
