Police: Armed Men Rob Matawan Resident on Main Street

The two men showed a gun and demanded money, the victim told police.

A 60-year-old Matawan man was robbed on Main Street in Matawan early Monday, according to Lt. Ben Smith.

Shortly after midnight, the victim was walking near Discount Depot at 147 Main Street when two men confronted him, Smith said. The victim described one as a short, white male with multiple tattoos. He was able to identify the second suspect as an acquaintance.

According to Smith, the tattooed man showed a handgun to the victim during the confrontation and demanded money. He gave them $90 cash and the two men left the area in a silver car, described as possibly an Audi A4, Smith said.
