Dinner’s done and the only thing more stuffed than the bird is you. Now the question becomes: What to do with all those leftovers? While many say simple reheating is all that’s necessary to have a “day after” feast, others have elaborate recipes for turning Thanksgiving leftovers into gourmet delights. From savory turkey soups to sinfully delicious pot pies and mile-high sandwiches, everyone has their own ideas on what to do with what’s leftover. After spending hours slaving over the stove, Patch wants to see the beautiful bird you are sharing with your families this Thanksgiving! The last few weeks have tested the Bayshore community, but they have also highlighted what we are truly thankful for.
Three weeks ago, the Bayshore community was gearing up for Halloween. Costumes and candy were purchased from stores, and a number of horror flicks played at local theaters. Before All Hallow's Eve could be properly celebrated with trick-or-treating, however, a storm the area will never forget barreled mercilessly through New Jersey. The morning before Halloween, the community awoke to find downed trees and homes and businesses washed away by the storm surge. Many would remain in the dark for two or more weeks, with a flashlight permanently in hand and several layers of clothing to protect them from the cold of the Nor'easter that came just days later. Others would remain in shelters, in search of temporary housing until they could rebuild…

NJ Transit is offering extra buses for Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
As NJ TRANSIT continues its storm-recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the agency is gearing up to offer nearly normal Thanksgiving service levels on most of its lines to ensure customers’ travel plans go smoothly over the holiday weekend. NJ TRANSIT is reminding customers that rail service may be subject to delays and cancellations as a result of ongoing storm recovery efforts. Due to residual storm impacts, Gladstone Branch rail service remains suspended until further notice, and Newark Light Rail will continue to operate on a modified schedule between Newark Penn and Broad Street stations (service every half hour). Communities affected by recent storms to receive extra help
With the holiday season getting underway Lowe's has announced that they will be providing free meals to local residents affected by Hurricane Sandy. The company announced that 35 of its stores in New York and New Jersey will be providing more than 22 thousand complete Thanksgiving dinners, including the Holmdel Route 35 South Lowe's store. The dinners include a fresh roasted turkey or ham, mashed potatoes and gravy along with sweet corn and rolls. Table Talk Pies of Worcester, Mass. also donated more than 43,000 pies for the meals. In addition to the 500 meals each store will distribute the company also said that all employees of the store will also get a free meal, "as a thank you for their dedication before, during and after the storm…
