Obituary: Harold Berger, 62, of Matawan

Harold worked as a Health and Physical Education teacher for Jamesburg's Board of Education.

Harold I. Berger, 62, of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Harold was born on October 11, 1950 in Hillside, New Jersey, where he grew up. In 1975, he relocated to Clark, New Jersey and in 1984, moved to Brick, New Jersey, for a period of time. In 1998, he ultimately settled in the Matawan/Old Bridge/Middlesex area of New Jersey. Harold worked as a Health and Physical Education teacher for Jamesburg's Board of Education. He was predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Judith (Sommer) Berger. Clare Obuchowicz, St. Joseph Parishioner, Dies at 87

Clare resided in Union Beach prior to moving to Morganville section of Marlboro Township.

Clara E. (Stryker) Obuchowicz, 87, of Morganville, passed away, Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at home.  Born in Bayonne, she resided in Union Beach prior to moving to Morganville section of Marlboro Township. For 20 years, she had an administrative position with Bell Labs, Holmdel.  Clara was a parishioner with St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.  Clara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley J. Joan Patricia Mezzacappa, 73, of Matawan, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Born in Perth Amboy to the late Christian and Frances Diedrickson, Joan lived in Colts neck for 30 years with her husband and six children, before moving to Matawan. She was a proud homemaker, raising her children and spending time with those she loved, her beloved family. She was an extremely generous woman and very giving, always making dreams come true. She loved swimming and hosting family parties and events. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. He worked as a Manager with Eastern Airlines, Newark, for 30 years. Frances (Alongi) Pizzuti, 101, of Aberdeen, passed away, Sunday, March 10, 2013, at home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Benedict Seniors and the Trinity Church Seniors of Marlboro. Frances was predeceased by her beloved husband, Costantino in 1999; a daughter, Anne Gerecitano in 1979; and her parents, Sebastian and Aurora Alongi. She joined the church when she moved to Matawan in 1952.

Dorothy Scheetz, 92, of Matawan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Victoria House. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late George and Madeline Schnebbe, Dorothy has resided in Matawan for the past 61 years. She worked as a stenographer for Durabla Manufacturing Company in New York City for 24 years, until her retirement in 1961. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Matawan since 1952. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting beautiful scarves and afghans.  Dorothy is predeceased by her brother George Schnebbe and sisters Madeline Haug, Margaret Dudas and Louise Fessel. Sheila Ann (Gardner) Byrne, 73, of Aberdeen, passed away, Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Gardens of Monroe, Monroe Township, after a long illness. Sheila was born on March 4, 1939 in Jersey City and graduated from St. Aloysius High School. She moved to Aberdeen in 1963 and spent many years working at Strathmore Elementary School.
