Most Viewed Stories in September on Matawan-Aberdeen Patch

Aberdeen Day 2012, local real estate, and a fatal accident were among the most viewed articles last month.

A Matawan man was charged Monday for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender. Rather than just hosting a fair at Matawan Regional High School, all parts of Aberdeen will be included in the festivities with a fishing contest, a talent competition, and a softball game between the police and fire departments. Aberdeen Day 2012 attendees had the opportunity to try and catch the largest fish of the day at Cliffwood Beach Park, ride kiddie rides and browse classic cars at the Matawan Regional High School, rock out during Aberdeen's Got Talent at Strathmore Shopping Center, and cheer on the Department of Works, Aberdeen Police Department, or the Aberdeen Fire Department during the Mayor's Trophy Softball Game at Fireman's Field. Letter from the Editor: Happy First Birthday Matawan-Aberdeen Patch

Exactly one year ago today, Matawan-Aberdeen Patch officially launched as a hub for local news and information.

It was a hot, sunny Thursday morning exactly one year ago when the Matawan-Aberdeen Patch site went live. I was sitting in the Starbucks on Main Street in Matawan when it happened, and I repeatedly refreshed the page with nervous anticipation, wondering what the local residents would think of this new community hub. It seems that area residents are relieved to have someone they can rely on for information during emergencies, for information during the election, and to get questions answered. Matawan-Aberdeen Patch has also been commended for our quick coverage of accidents, regular attendance of school board and council meetings, and our dedication to shining a spotlight on local businesses and residents.
