Thursday: Matawan PBA to Host Comedy Club Night

The fundraiser is sure to put a smile on your face.

Laugh out loud with the Matawan PBA Local #179 at their comedy club night on Thursday, April 25.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. at the Lakeside Manor in Hazlet Township. Matawan PBA Donates Money, Toys to Local Charities

Charities were selected based on the positive impact they have on the Bayshore area, PB president said.

The Matawan Police Benevolence Association Local #179 will donate $10,000 in cash as well toys to local charities this holiday season.  Restore the Bayshore, Heroes Helping Heroes, Union Beach Disaster Relief Fund and Hope for Highlands will each recieve $2,500 and the Matawan First Aid and Rescue Squad will receive toys and gifts the PBA collected throughout the year, according to PBA president Andrew Marsala.  Restore the Bayshore was launched by the PBA in the wake of Sandy to provide financial assistance to families and businesses in the Bayshore area when resources like FEMA and personal insurance fall short.  "Heroes Helping Heroes" is a Dec. 8 concert at the Stone Pony organized by the Monmouth County Traffic Officers Association to…

Matawan PBA Launches 'Restore the Bayshore' Movement

The goal of Restore the Bayshore is to focus relief efforts on areas along the bay that were severely damaged during Sandy.

Sandy turned the once calm Raritan Bay into a weapon against the homes and businesses nestled along the shore, destroying entire communities with high waters and powerful waves. As the relief efforts continue, the Matawan PBA Local 179 wants to help make sure that communities like Cliffwood Beach, Keyport, Union Beach and Keansburg receive the help they need. "The issue is you have local people donating money but it's not coming back to our own community," said Matawan Lt. Jason Gallo. Gallo, his wife Kathi and a fellow officer Chris Stark were talking about this when they came up with the Restore the Bayshore initiative, Gallo explained.
