Strong Wind Gusts, Coastal Flooding Predicted for Bayshore Area

Heavy rain combined with high tide is expected to cause flooding in coastal regions tonight and Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service is predicting that heavy rain combined with high tide will cause moderate flooding in communities along the Raritan Bay tonight and potentially Thursday morning. Wind between 23 and 35 miles per hour with gusts reaching 50 miles per hour are also predicted between 4 p.m. on Wednesday through 1 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.  The wind may cause property damage, especially to holiday decorations that are not secured well enough. Branches may also be blown down, the service says, causing scattered power outages in the region.
