286 Matawan and Aberdeen seniors officially graduated high school on Friday, June 15
The familiar notes of "Pomp and Circumstance" filled the air as the Matawan Regional High School class of 2012 marched slowly through Barry Rizzo Stadium, guided by an aisle of silver ribbon. When the 286-member class took their seats on the field, half draped in white gowns and half draped in maroon, they were encouraged to always experience life to the fullest. "Whether you are heading off to college or getting ready to work, staying close to home or starting off somewhere far away, embrace the understanding that your learning and growing do not stop here today. The Class of 2012 marked their advancement to high school with a promotion ceremony
Matawan Aberdeen Middle School promoted 273 eighth graders to high school during a graduation ceremony Thursday afternoon at Barry Rizzo Stadium. The students were encouraged to reflect on their last few years as middle school students and to remember the valuable lessons they learned while growing at high school. Holly Richardson, the class president, addressed her classmates during the ceremony. We went from being the shortest kids on the tallest in the school. Matawan native and Seton Hall graduate Stephen Jamandron joined his cadre of ROTC comissionees recently to officially mark their newly earned ranks as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army at the 2012 Department of Military Service commissioning ceremony. One by one, each of the ten cadets was honorably saluted by various ranked Army officials. As Jamandron moved to the center of the stage, he was met a particularly important ranked official. His father, Sergeant (SFC) Edward Jamandron, remained professional as he shared with his son the first salute as second lieutenant. “My father has been in the military for 20 years, so our family has a strong military background,” said Jamandron, whose next step will be the Basic Officer Leaders Course …
