Wrong-Way Driver Dies In Multi-Vehicle Crash on Garden State Parkway

Another driver is in critical condition.

A multi-vehicle accident caused the death of one person and seriously injured another near Exit 114 on the Garden State Parkway southbound express in Middletown on Saturday afternoon, according to 511nj.org. Leonard Danduone, 80, of New Providence, was driving northbound in the southbound express lane when he hit a car head-on, causing a large crash with four vehicles involved, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Brian Polite. Polite said Danduone, who was driving a white sedan, was taken to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, and pronounced dead. The driver he struck head on, Michael Aberback, 37, of Morristown, is in critical condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Polite said. Aberback was driving a grey Hyundai. Polite said …

Update: Man Killed in Parkway Accident Near Exit 117 on Friday Identified

The accident occurred in the express lanes on the Hazlet section of roadway.

New Jersey State Police have identified Luis Delcarpio, 47, of West Orange as the victim of a fatal accident on the southbound express lanes of the Garden State Parkway on Friday.  At 6:58 a.m., one vehicle struck the guide rail at mile 117.9 while traveling in the Parkway express lanes. The driver and a second passenger, identified as Antonio Delcarpio and Alexander Delcarpio, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Bayshore Community Hospital.  The relationship between the three men was unknown. A mix of snow and rain fell throughout the day on Friday, resulting in slippery road conditions and several accidents.
