A Matawan man was charged with two counts of burglary after he allegedly broke into two cars parked in Long Branch. Police say Patrick Scalici, 18, entered a 2006 Jeep and a 2010 Ford parked at a Seven Eleven in the township on Tuesday, Feb. 19, according to court documents. Bail was set at $20,000 with a ten percent cash option. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
When officers arrived at the house, the man was allegedly attempting to break in using a flashlight and a tire iron.
An Aberdeen man was arrested by township police Monday after officers allegedly observed him using a tire iron and flashlight to break into a Cliffwood Beach home. According to Chief John Powers, Jeremy P. Weaver, 31, of Elmwood Drive was charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and criminal attempt in relation to the late-night incident. At about 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 18, Aberdeen Township Police responded to a report of a person attempting to enter a South Councourse residence. P.O. A Monmouth County grand jury voted to indict two Perth Amboy men on charges they broke into a Matawan residence and stole about $20,000 worth of property from the home. Investigators say on May 15, Manuel Zapata, 23, and Yeudi Garcia, 21, allegedly entered a home on Annmar Drive in Matawan and stole jewelry and electronic equipment, including a computer, estimated in total to be worth approximately $20,000. The pair was indicted on two charges, including burglary and theft of movable property. Both are third degree crimes. An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that a grand jury found there was enough evidence for a trial.

Aberdeen Township Police are investigating the burglary of a Cliffwood Avenue home, according to Police Chief John Powers. Entry was gained through a basement window at some point between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9. A laptop, digital video recorder and a digital camera were reported stolen. P.O. A Cliffwood man is charged with allegedly breaking into a neighbor's home shortly after Christmas, according to the Aberdeen Township Police Department. Aberdeen P.O. Edgar Serrano responded to a report of a burglary on Milton Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 27, according to Lt. Joseph Cole. The initial investigation found that a window was forced open and jewelry, perfume and clothes were stolen. The follow-up investigation, conducted by Det. Lou Nanna and Sgt. Hank Chevalier, led to the arrest of Christian Mead, 23, also of Milton Avenue, according to Lt. Cole. Mead faces three charges, including burglary, theft and criminal mischief. The investigation began in Matawan after the July burglary of Wine Nation, where the front glass window was shattered and cash and cigarettes were stolen. A Cliffwood Beach man was arrested Monday on charges that he stole copper wire from the JCP&L substation on Wilson Avenue in Matawan on four separate occasions. Two of the alleged incidents occurred during the power outages following Sandy. Police say that John Wesp, 30, of Raritan Boulevard, entered the substation on Oct. 16, Oct. 25., Nov. 2 and Nov. 4 by cutting a hole in the fence surrounding the property. He allegedly removed over sixty copper stabilizing wires that help ground the electrical poles at the substation, Lt. Ben Smith explained. Each section is estimated to be about eight feet long. A Matawan man was charged in both Matawan and Aberdeen for allegedly breaking into two separate homes and sexually assaulting or attempting to sexually assault the female residents. Detectives from the Matawan Police Department, Aberdeen Police Department, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office arrested Derrick J. A Cliffwood Beach man faces multiple charges after he allegedly burglarized a car in Aberdeen and subsequently punched a hole in a wall at the Aberdeen Township Police Station. Police received a 911 call from an Orchard Street residence near the intersection of Center Street at about 11:28 p.m. on Sept. 18, according to Chief John Powers. Officer Matthew McDow responded to the scene and was directed toward the side of the home for a suspicious person, Powers said.
