Man Indicted on Attempted Murder Charge for Allegedly Stabbing Cab Driver in Aberdeen

He also allegedly attempted to run the cab driver over after carjacking his taxi.

A Newark man was indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury Monday on a first degree attempted murder charge.  According to investigators, on June 16, 2012, Justin Falcon, 34, got in a cab driven by a 55-year-old man at the Keyport 7-Eleven and drove to nearby Wayside Drive in the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen. When the cab arrived on Wayside Drive, Falcon allegedly began stabbing the man in the area of his face and throat, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Investigators say that Falcon then allegedly stole the driver's wallet, which contained about $250, and his cab. Volunteer to Help a Local Woman in Crisis

The Aberdeen Township Police Department and 180 Turning Lives Around are seeking volunteers to serve on the Northern Regional Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT).

Aberdeen Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers to serve on the Northern Regional Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT). In affiliation with 180 Turning Lives Around (180), and with the assistance of the response team volunteers, the Aberdeen Township Police Department continues to make available this service to victims of domestic violence during the initial stages of a highly emotional and traumatic experience. Applications for volunteers are currently being accepted. The 40-hour intensive, mandatory training course will be provided to successful applicants at no cost. 180 will be conducting the four-week training course from April 22 - May 16 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the …

Police are searching for a man and woman who allegedly used a gun to rob a Cliffwood Beach house while an adult and a child were home.

Police are searching for a man and a woman who allegedly flashed a handgun during the robbery of an Aberdeen home Wednesday night. According to Police Chief John Powers, at about 5:20 p.m. two people knocked on the door of a Raritan Street home and asked the child who answered the door who was home. The pair then proceeded to enter the home without permission, Powers said.  The female stayed with the child while the male showed a handgun to an adult male resident while he robbed him of a backpack and pair of sneakers, according to police. Nixle Alerts Now Available to Aberdeen Residents

The emergency alert system is in addition to Code Red, and comes at no cost to the township.

The following is a press release from Aberdeen Township: Aberdeen Township has joined forces with Nixle.com, a provider of mass notification services for public safety agencies, to provide residents and local businesses with e-mail and text alerts.  This new service, which is free of charge to the Township, will operate along with the Code Red system currently in place. Code Red, which provides alerts via telephone, e-mail and text, will remain the only phone notification system in use at this time, while Nixle will provide alerts by e-mail and text only. Man Charged with DWI After Striking Guardrail Near Beach Drive in Aberdeen

He was flown to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center with possible injuries after the one-vehicle accident.

A Whiting man is facing DWI charges after an accident in Cliffwood Beach Wednesday night. According to Chief John Powers, Jason Finnerty, 38, was driving a 2006 Mercury on South Concourse toward the Raritan Bay at about 8 p.m. when he struck the guardrail at the end of the road near Beach Drive. Finnerty was flown to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center by helicopter with possible internal injuries.  He is charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. The accident resulted in damage to the guardrail and minor damage to the township sewer pump station, which is located there, Powers said. The pump station remains functional, he said.
