Facelift Approved for McDonald's of Aberdeen

The Zoning Board memorialized the resolution approving major changes to the McDonald's on Route 34 in Aberdeen.

The Aberdeen Township Zoning Board gave McDonald's a green light to revamp their Aberdeen location, according to a resolution adopted by the board on April 24.  The current structure features an old design for the popular fast-food chain, with a tan cement and stone facade and minimal signage. McDonald's new restaurant design has sleeker and more modern elements, such as a single golden arch versus the dual arches that form an "M".  Final site plan approval by the Zoning Board allows McDonald's Real Estate Company to demolish the existing building at 1108 Route 34 and construct a new one with a drive-thru facility that has two ordering points.  The project required several variances, including one allowing the drive-thru, one to reduce the…

I hope they fix that pot hole that has been there for years when exiting McDonalds by car making a right. I've called and was told too many people responsible for that repairing and no one wants to take the initiative. PLEASE FIX the pot hole. Thanks   more ›

Aberdeen Planning Board to Review Possible Demolition of Old Cliffwood Elementary School

The board will also review the possible demolition of the old Cliffwood Elementary School building.

The Aberdeen Township Planning Board will discuss the demolition of the old Cliffwood Avenue Elementary School at their meeting Wednesday.  The 90-year-old structure is approximately 30,000 square feet in size, including an addition that was put on while the building still operated as a school, according to former School Business Administrator James Strimple. After the new elementary school was built, the old school operated as a storage area. The district no longer uses the building for any purpose, Strimple said. The demolition project, including remediation and professional fees, is estimated to cost $850,000. The actual remediation and demolition portion of the project is estimated to take eight weeks. The board authorized the business…

Aberdeen Planning Board Meeting Canceled

A notice was placed on the township website.

The Aberdeen Township Planning Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 7 is canceled. A notice placed on the township's website states that all applications will be carried to the Dec. 5 public meeting. The Dec. 5 meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Aberdeen Township Municipal Building.
