Since 1934, the Matawan First Aid and Rescue Squad has been providing completely volunteer emergency support services for the Matawan-Aberdeen Regions. All active members are certified as Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Drivers need a minimum certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at a Healthcare Provider level. Known to the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office as Squad 29-21, the Matawan First Aid and Rescue Squad uses two standard ambulances and a third rescue ambulance with transport capability.
