Menorah Dedication, Thanksgiving Events Scheduled This Week

Monday, Nov. 25

Aberdeen residents are invited to the dedication of a Menorah donated by Young Israel, 6 p.m. at Town Hall. Rabbi Aaron Ross and Township Council members will be in attendance.

The Matawan Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Burrowes Mansion, 94 Main St. Joe Bilby will present “Freedom to All: The Story of New Jersey’s African-American Civil War Soldiers.”

Temple Shalom, 5 Ayrmont Lane in Aberdeen, will host the Bayshore Ministerium Interfaith Thanksgiving service at 7:30 p.m. More information about the event is available here.

Thursday, Nov. 28

Happy Thanksgiving! Municipal offices and schools in Matawan and Aberdeen are closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the holiday.

A community Thanksgiving dinner will be served at 1 p.m. at the Matawan United Methodist Church, 478 Atlantic Ave. Call 732-566-2996 to reserve a seat.

Saturday, Nov. 30

Matawan’s 5K Turkey Trot and Fitness Walk opens for registration at 8 a.m. at Terhune Park on Main and Broad Streets. More information about the races and how to enter is available here.
