Are You Ready for Matawan Day 2013?

A look at what's happening in Matawan and Aberdeen this week.

Matawan Day takes over Main Street on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. The event will feature over 20 food vendors as well as rides, music and crafts for sale. The rain date will be Sunday, Oct. 13.

Other happenings this week:

The Monmouth County Health Department will hold flu clinics on Monday at the Matawan Municipal Community Center from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Union Beach Borough Hall from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Matawan Unified Planning/Zoning Board of Adjustment meets Monday at 7 p.m.

The Matawan Aberdeen Public Library will screen The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio on Monday at 2 p.m.

The Friends of the Matawan Aberdeen Public Library will hold a monthly meeting on Monday at 7 p.m.

Cub Scout Pack 66 will hold a recruitment open house at the Matawan Municipal Community Center on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to parents and first to fourth grade boys interested in scouting.

Matawan-Aberdeen School District progress reports go out for the first marking period on Wednesday.

The Matawan Shade Tree Commission meets Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Cheesequake Volunteer Fire Company in Old Bridge will hold its annual open house on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. The event will include live fire exhibitions, extrication demonstrations, antique fire engines, equipment show and tell and food.
