Mission Matawan Now Accepting Project Applications

First Presbyterian Church of Matawan volunteers help local homeowners in need

Mission Matawan is accepting applications from members of the greater Matawan-Aberdeen community who need assistance in repairing and maintaining their homes for its 2012 program. Mission Matawan will run from June 23 through June 30.

Mission Matawan provides a helping hand to the elderly, handicapped and others who lack the resources to deal with yard work, home repair and maintenance. Workers include members of the as well as volunteers from the community.

Projects range from small jobs, such as moving boxes, clearing out basements or attics, or mending clothes, to larger tasks, such as repairing fences or replacing wallboard. Often the projects involve yard work, which can be done quickly with numerous volunteers to lend a helping hand.

“Sometimes people just need a little extra elbow grease to get the work done, or have lost the inspiration to do a daunting task,” said Diana Noble, Project Manager. “For the price of supplies, an energetic crew of hardworking volunteers will help people get projects done that would otherwise be beyond their abilities to do on their own.”

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Mission Matawan. Participants have helped hundreds of clients over the years and hope to continue to provide aid in the years to come.
