Matawan Volunteer Receives Award for Lifetime of Dedication to Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore presents more than 200 awards to local volunteers
Betty Trivisone was one of the volunteers honored by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore at their annual Adult Recognition Reception on April 24 at the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore’s Program Activity Center in Farmingdale, NJ.
There are more than 6,000 adult volunteers with Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore who assist over 15,000 Girl Scouts throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties become strong, independent women.
“One of the best things about being a volunteer is watching the girls try new experiences and tell their friends about it,” said Joanna Caposello, leader of Junior Troop 799 in Middletown.

“I've worked with these girls for four years and they've had a lot of first experiences – volunteering at Lunch Break, donating items to the Humane Society, holiday caroling, touring vet hospitals, giving speeches, cleaning the beaches and more. I also love seeing the friendships that have sprung up between the girls,” Caposello said.

Trefoil Award
Jessie Blair, Ocean Township; Evelyn Strain, Howell; and Betty Trivisone, Matawan
This award acknowledges the achievement of a long time volunteer or staff member who has continued to contribute in extraordinary ways that benefit Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore and the entire Girl Scout movement.
Thanks Badge
Sally Maloney, Millstone and C. Y. Wong, Toms River
This award recognizes an adult member whose performance is truly outstanding and benefits the total council or the entire Girl Scout movement.
In addition to the Adult Recognition Reception, five community award ceremonies for local volunteers will take place throughout the month of May.
