Soccer Penalty Kick Competition, Sept. 24

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Kids between ages 10-14 can compete for free

Think you got kick? 

Local boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14 are invited to find out at the St. Benedict Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge on Sept. 24th, between 2 and 5 p.m.

The kids will get to take 15 kicks at the goal from the penalty line (12 yards from the goal). Points will be awarded for accuracy. Winners will move up to local, district and state championships. Ten soccer balls will be awarded to top scorers.

"This is one of the community activites the Knight of Columbus does to bring awareness to the council, and to the value of sports and commmunity," said member Jim DiGuido

The Knights are adding this event to their calendar, and plan to hold it annually. They already sponsor a basketball free throw competition in January. "Everything related to our community activities is about fun, and good sportsmanship," said DiGuido.

St. Benedict Church is located at the corner of Bethany and Hillcrest Roads. There is no pre-registration required. A rain date is not currently not planned, as of Sept. 15.
