Matawan-Aberdeen Rotary Gives Gift of New School Supplies to Local Kids in Need

The Matawan-Aberdeen Rotary Club is donating about 250 backpacks filled with school supplies to the local school district.

This is the Rotary's fourth annual back to school drive, which is supported through donations from the community.

Members of Rotary gathered Thursday afternoon at the Reception Center at St. Clement to fill the backpacks and deliver them to schools in Matawan and Aberdeen. The school nurses will then distribute the backpacks to students who cannot afford new supplies this year.

In addition to the back to school drive, the Rotary also donated 400 backpacks to Keyport and 75 to Union Beach after Hurricane Sandy. The Union Beach backpacks were stuffed by Strathmore Elementary students.
