UPDATE: Matawan-Aberdeen Regional Schools Closed Wednesday
Winter storm warning begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday
All Matawan-Aberdeen Regional schools will be closed on Wednesday due to severe weather, the district announced Tuesday evening.
The winter storm impacting the area is expected to bring eight inches of snow to the area through Wednesday morning.
Wednesday evening activities are also canceled, officials said. Deteriorating conditions forced an early dismissal for all Matawan-Aberdeen schools on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service's winter storm warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday. In addition to snow accumulation, temperatures are expected to plummet into the single digits Tuesday night.
Travel is expected to be "very hazardous or impossible," according to the NWS.
