Bayshore Schools Receive Additional Sandy Aid

Union Beach, Keansburg awarded additional grant money

The school districts of two Monmouth County Bayshore communities were among 11 statewide to receive additional grant money to help with Superstorm Sandy recovery.

Keansburg and Union Beach received $306,089 and $92,199, respectively, out of $800,000 in funding made possible through the U.S. Department of Education’s Project School Emergency Response to Violence, Gov. Chris Christie’s office announced Tuesday.

“Even though Superstorm Sandy occurred more than a year ago, some of our school communities continue to work toward full recovery,” said state Education Commissioner Christopher Cerf in a statement. “We are grateful that this funding has been made available to ensure a sense of stability and security for our children’s education.”
