Arts in Motion...hands down! They are creative, original and focus on technique! They are way above your AIM!

My vote is for Nancy Royce (soon to be Raising the Barre). The teachers are wonderful and Miss Deanna is awesome! Very caring and organized. My daughters' love taking dance and have learned so much! If you have real little ones, you will love Miss Denise, she does a great job and the kids love her! All in all NR has the total package!

Bayshore Academy of Dance has been a home for my husband and I for 7 years. We are professional performers, choreographers and teachers from NYC. Bayshore is the longest running dance studio business in the area with 35 years of dedication. It is a strong community of dancers that is an extension of everyone's family. The owner Lynn Scheps has a knowledge of Theatre and Movie Musicals that far exceeds the computer. Those favorites are an inspiration to us all and her passion of that art form, that others don't recognize today as much as the current contemporary dance forms, is prominent in her teaching styles. The studio is well rounded with education in every aspect of the art. My husband & I bring a more current flavor that delves into the emotion of dance and create pieces that the audience and dancers will long remember. I am proud to say that our daughter will be performing this year in their recital for the first time. Check out Tina & Cheyenne's summer intensive classes.

PERNA DANCE CENTER is really a great family to belong to! My daughter is now in her 5th year of dance and not only do they teach them the fundamentals of dancing but also help them to grow into very beautiful and confident young ladies. Miss Heady & Mr Pat run a very organized and professional dance center and I would not send my children any where else! My daugher will always be a "Perna Girl"!!! : )

Perna Dance gets out vote. We have three daughters at Perna and have been there for 15 years. They are very professional, well organized and make the girls feel like they are apart of a very large family. The productions are awesome and they keep getting better. We are very glad to be a part of the Perna family and will be for years to come. Thanks to Miss Hedy, Mr. Pat and all the staff. We couldn't see ourselves anywhere else.

Have you visited Bayshore Academy of Dance? We are in business 33 years and are the oldest established dancing school in the area! Our staff is from NYC and teach the students not only dance steps, but life lessons and the history behind the dance moves. We mold young, shy dancers into outgoing and confident performers. Most of our students graduate and go on to continue their dance education in college and opening their own dance schools.

Michael, I totally agree with you. While I enjoy reading the Patch, these on-line polls are a joke. They need to put controls in place whereby you can only vote once per account or per computer or somethng like that....unless their objective is to get as many "hits" as possible so their advertising rates can increase.
Corrine March 20, 2012 at 05:20 pm
The Perna Dance Center has my vote!!! I have 3 daughters and we have been part of the Perna Family for 11 years !!! It's an incredible facility that teaches the latest dance techniques and so much more!!!! Perna girls :)

IN 3 HOURS THE VOTE COUNT WENT UP 200.
Chelsea Naso (Editor) March 20, 2012 at 08:17 pm
The article and the poll itself indicate that the poll is not scientific. Readers' Choice is decided based on a combination of votes, directory reviews and comments on this article.
Controls to ensure that voting is always limited to one vote per person would definitely enhance the poll. Hopefully that will come soon. But, it is not so unbelievable that so many people have voted if you consider that it has been shared on Facebook over 100 times and each dance studio likely let their students' parents know about the poll.

Bayshore academy of dance has delivered excellence in dancing. My daughter is in her third year of Ballet and our entire experience has been a positive one. Miss Lynn and miss Barbara give their heart & soul into this organization.
Having gone to many recitals in my lifetime their is no better than miss Lynn's - she puts together the most enjoyable & entreating show ever. My husband even enjoys them.

Bayshore Academy of Dance is my second home. This studio has taught me all I know about dance. My teachers Miss Lynn, Miss Barabara, Miss Tina, and Cheyenne have molded me into the fearless performer I am today. Miss Lynn brings the fun energetic broadway style of dance to the studio, Miss Barabara teaches us the technical styles of ballet and Tina and Cheyenne bring so much from what they have learned as dancers themselves. Not only do Tina and Cheyenne travel from New York City almost everyday to teach us, they have traveled the world with dance. The studio is absolutely the best studio in these towns, Bayshore gives you more then a dance studio, they give you a second home. I have made friends here for life and mentors as well. I will never forget all they have taught me here, because It has made me the dancer, and the person I am today.

Bayshore Academy of Dance is a great dance studio. I go to classes 3 times a week and have been at this studio for 5 years. The teachers at Bayshore are amazing and the best dance teachers around. Miss Lynn, Miss Barbara, Miss Tina, and Cheyenne all work very hard to put together amazing performances for the recital. They dont only teach us how to dance, but they also teach us lessons that are useful for everyday life. And we have so much fun here at Bayshore Academy of Dance. I have made many new friends and I cant wait until the spring recital!

Bayshore Academy of Dance is a wonderful dance studio. The teachers are very professional and congenial. The girls learn so much and have fun doing so. My granddaughter dances at the studio 3 times a week and loves it. I can hardly wait for the Spring Recital. I espescially love the Musical Comedy part of the recital. I feel like I am watching a real Broadway show! I have attended 3 other granddaughters' recitals out of the area and Bayshore Academy of Dance's recital is by far the best!

Bayshore Academy of dance is more than a dance studio, it is a family. I have been with the studio for 17 years and it has been the best years of my life. I cannot think of another studio where you not only learn how to dance, but you learn so many wonderful tidbits of knowledge about broadway and actors as well. I have known Ms. Lynn for a very long time and I can honestly say that I canot imagine my life without her. She has given me the confidence in not ony my dancing, but the confidence I have about myself as a person. I truly love her and her family and can see myself sending my children to Bayshore one day.

BAYSHORE ACADEMY OF DANCE! MS.LYNN heart beats dance and blood is made of broadway. She has created a warm, welcoming dance studio. Many years in the business means she knows it well. Bayshore has a wide range of class selection and a team of dance instructors with broadway background. This is where to send your children.

BAYSHORE ACADEMY OF DANCE IS AMAZING!!! I've been dancing there since I was two years old, and have learned so much from my teachers. The atmosphere is friendly and professional. Miss Lynn has created such an amazing dance community at Bayshore. I have grown up at this studio and have so much pride in it. To any new dancers, I suggest enrolling at Bayshore!
Aleks March 21, 2012 at 07:03 pm
Bayshore Academy of Dance is the best studio ever! I have been dancing there for 11 years, and although I have tried some other studios, I have always stayed at Bayshore. The teachers can improve your technique and style, and most of all, they can show you the beauty in all kinds of dance. Modern, hip hop, ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and all kinds of dance are taught at this studio. The teachers not only teach you the steps, they teach you about life. Everyone at this studio can work together, and all of them are confident. Bayshore is amazing.

Perna is simply the best! This is my daughter's 7th year, and I am so proud of not only the amazing dancer she is becoming, but also her dedication and discipline. MIss Hedy and her staff have instilled these principles in her, and I look forward to watching my daughter grow with Perna

NEXT LEVEL DANCE ACADEMY. I just started there and it is the best dance studio. The owners make you feel welcomed. The teachers go over every step by step with you until you get it down packed. Next Level is one big happy family. My life will be growing up with next level and they will be there to support me. You need lots of practice to make it perfect! All you have to do is step it up to the NEXT LEVEL!

BAYSHORE ACADEMY OF DANCE in Holmdel is the longest running dance studio in the area with 35 yrs of dedication. Owner, Lynn Scheps, cares about her students, makes every family feel comfortable and welcome. I had the pleasure of having Lynn Scheps as an Adjunct Professor at Brookdale CC for a Jazz dance class. Almost burnt out on dance after bad vibes from a comp based studio in late teenage yrs. Then took tap at Bayshore for 2 yrs, I feel as if I am a part of the "Bayshore family." even in that short time. Studio has a great mix of college educated dance teachers, working professional dancers who are well trained. They don’t do completions. Technique, well rounded students are there thing. With the owner offering students opportunity to go on two different bus trips into NYC; one to a Broadway Show, the other to the Lincoln Center Ballet yearly. Many students are active in the wider Monmouth County dance community in plays, dance team at their schools, Community Theater, church, synagogue dance groups. Bayshore recitals are a highlighted by Ballet Ensemble a great training ground for classical ballet. Along with their Musical Comedy group that puts on a well polished show that makes people appreciate Broadway as part of their recital. They don't only teach children, adults how to dance, but they also teach lessons that are useful for everyday life. Integrating things such as community performances to give back to the community into the life of the studio.

I have been going to bayshore academy of dance for over ten years now and am a graduating senior and i absolutely love it. I cant imagine dancing anywhere else. The teachers there are amazing and i have learned so much from them. Also, I have made so many great friends here. I would recommend bayshore to anyone!
Leah Rachel von Essen March 22, 2012 at 02:12 am
I have been going to Bayshore Academy of Dance for ten years, and I love it. It's just just about how many shows we can do and how much we can pack into a year. It's about making each girl confident in herself and in her dancing, and really doing pieces rather than numbers. Last year we did a beautifully choreographed and high-concept piece to "Uninvited" by Alanis Moriessette. Dance numbers are fun and probably cleaner on technique than ours are, but our pieces tell stories, real and amazing and gorgeous stories. Without my dance classes, I wouldn't be the confident girl I am today, because my teachers taught me to love each and every bit of my body and myself and just go for it. They taught me that intensity and emotion is more important than being perfectly in-sync with every last girl in the group. It's about the joy and love for dancing. What we do is advanced and difficult and amazing. We're not a huge studio that does competitons or four shows a year. We're a family, with one brilliant show a year that amazes people every year with how high-concept and impressive the dances are. I have danced with almost all of the people in my class for the last five years, if not the last full decade, and made long-lasting friendships that I couldn't live without. Owner Lynn Scheps puts her life and soul into the studio, and cares deeply about every girl or boy who attends. This studio is the only place where I would ever want to dance, and I will miss it when I go to college.

This poll is in no way accurate ... I doubt some some these schools even have 2000 students
Kathryn March 22, 2012 at 05:27 pm
I've danced at Bayshore since I was in middle school. The teachers are amazing, but whats more amazing is the sense of family. I have made life long friends from my years at Bayshore. And while I am in college now I still visit any chance I get. It truly is my second home!
Sne March 22, 2012 at 07:52 pm
