Public Hearing for Mixed Use Development Near Matawan Walgreens Continues

The developers are seeking final site approval at the upcoming hearing.

A public hearing will be held on a proposed mixed use development on Route 34 in Matawan near the Walgreens by Broad Street, according to a public notice.

The application is for final site approval to leave the current Walgreens as it is, convert the existing two-story building into a medical officer and build a new mixed-use building with retail space on the first floor and four residential stories above it, according to the public notice.

The plans have been in front of the Matawan Unified Planning/Zoning Board several times in recent months as the borough worked to fine-tune the developer's vision.

The applicant is seeking final site plan approval for the project, which requires multiple variances and waivers of design standards, according to the notice.

The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Matawan Municipal Community Center.
