Matawan to Offer Summer Parking Passes at Train Station

Applications for the annual parking program will be accepted starting March 18.

Matawan Borough will begin accepting applications for 2013 Summer Parking Permits at the Aberdeen-Matawan Train Station on March 18, according to a resolution approved by the Borough Council on Feb. 5.

Mayor Paul Buccellato explained that several years ago, the borough noticed that during the summer there were a number of open spaces in the Matawan parking lot.

"Since people generally go on vacation during the summer months, there are spots or spaces that are available," he said. "It's been successful in the past and we're continuing the program."

The parking permits will be valid between May 1 and Aug. 31, 2013 and cost $225. Permits will be issued on a first come, first served basis. They are only valid for the Matawan parking lot, which is the triangular lot located between Atlantic Avenue, Main Street and Railroad Plaza.

The parking permit application cautions recipients that lost or stolen permits will not be replaced and all parking privileges will be lost.

Receiving a summer parking permit will have no impact on a person's standing on the wait list for year-round parking permits, according to the permit application.

To apply, complete the application and mail it, with the full payment and with an original signature, to:

Borough of Matawan
Attn: Railroad Parking
201 Broad Street
Matawan, NJ 07747

Hard copies of the application are available at the Matawan Municipal Community Center. A digital version is attached to this article below the photo of the parking lot and is also available on the borough website.
