Council Meetings Canceled in Matawan and Aberdeen

Alternate meeting dates not yet provided

Council meetings scheduled for Tuesday night in Matawan and Aberdeen have been canceled due to winter weather conditions, officials from each municipality announced.

Alternate dates for the canceled meetings have not yet been provided by either municipality.

The National Weather Service's winter storm warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday. In addition to snow accumulation, temperatures are expected to plummet into the single digits Tuesday night.

Travel is expected to be "very hazardous or impossible," according to the NWS.

Aberdeen's town hall closed its doors at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, though the building is available as a warming station to those who need a respite from the cold. The township's municipal court for Wednesday has been canceled, according to officials.

Municipal offices in Matawan will close at 1 p.m. Tuesday and are expected to reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Any changes to that schedule will be posted to the borough website and sent through electronic alert, according to officials.
