Aberdeen Township's Slogan Is...

Matawan Regional students were tasked with creating a slogan, and the Aberdeen Business Council and Township Council got to pick the winner

 “Our community, our neighborhood, our town,” was named the winner of the Aberdeen Township Slogan Contest by the Aberdeen Township Council on June 14.

Matawan Regional High School students that captures the heart and soul of the community using between two and six words. Submissions were initially reviewed by members of the Aberdeen Business Council, with recommended finalists sent on to the Aberdeen Township Council for the final judging. All submissions were entered anonymously, with students using their school district identification number.

The winning slogan was submitted by sophomore Nick Thompkins. The honorable mention recipients were senior Diandia Rutherton for “Small Town, Big Heart” and sophomore Keshaun Barnes for “The Place Where You Belong.” The three finalists were selected from over 50 entries submitted by MRHS students.

“The three slogans selected by the Township Council and Business Council represent just a small portion of the truly outstanding entries that we received,” said Mayor Fred Tagliarini.

“All of the participating students should be commended for their creativity and effort. In the end, it was a tough choice. My congratulations go out to Nick, Diandia and Keshaun for creating the slogans that best captured the spirit of Aberdeen and its residents,” Tagliarini said.

The first place winner was awarded a $100.00 Visa Gift Card and each honorable mention recipient received a Visa Gift Card in the amount of $50.00.
