Aberdeen Sandy Construction Fees Return in 2014

Fees were waived for affected properties in November 2012

Permit fees for repairs necessary because of hurricane damage in Aberdeen will require payment beginning in 2014.

The council originally voted to waive permit fees for Sandy repairs at its November 2012 meeting, just weeks after the storm struck. This week, the council at its regular meeting passed a resolution requiring fee payment after Dec. 31, 2013.

According to a letter the township received last year from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, municipalities were permitted to waive fees. If a municipality chose to do so, the state permit surcharge fee was also waived.
