Update: Point Pleasant Man Arrested for Home Invasion on Main Street in Matawan

Matawan police are searching for the second suspect

A Point Pleasant man was charged with two counts of robbery in connection to in Matawan Tuesday night.

Police say that at about 8:05 p.m. on Mar. 13, a male resident of 258 Main Street was working in his garage when two men broke into the garage by kicking down the door.

The men took about $540 cash from the resident and fled the scene, according to official charges filed from the police department.

According to Lt. Ben Smith, the resident knew and identified one of the suspects as Gregory Alexander, 41, of Point Pleasant.

Further investigation revealed that Alexander allegedly came into the resident's home on Sunday, March 11 and took about $86 from him, Smith said. The resident did not report this incident to police.

Police are still investigating the incident and the identity of the second suspect.

Alexander is charged with two counts of robbery. He was transported to Monmouth County Jail and bail was set at $75,000.
