Union Beach Man Indicted on Charges of Aggravated Assault, Arson

Police say he tried to set the victim on fire

A Monmouth County grand jury indicted a Union Beach man on twelve charges stemming from a domestic violence incident in Aberdeen on Jan. 12, 2012.

Police say that David Anthony, 36, with his girlfriend at a Netherwood Drive residence. He allegedly pushed and choked her, then held a knife to her throat. Anthony then sprayed hairspray on the victim and tried to ignite her with a lighter, police say. When police arrived on the scene, Anthony had already fled. He was later arrested on Orchard Street.

Anthony was indicted on two counts of third degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree terroristic threats, second-degree aggravated arson, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree arson, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree resisting arrest.

The grand jury's vote does not determine guilt or innocence, only that charges may be brought against the people named in the indictment.
