South Amboy Man Arrested for Theft and Burglary of Strathmore Area Home

Police say that Michael Masonius, 19, entered a home on Deerfield Lane through the front window on Sept. 12.

A South Amboy man was arrested Wednesday and charged with the theft and burglary of a home in the Strathmore area of Aberdeen Township.

Police say that Michael Masonius, 19, entered a home on Deerfield Lane through the front window on Sept. 12.

at approximately 11:00 a.m. by the homeowners who had left the residence for a short period, according to Chief of Police John Powers.

When they returned they discovered the home had been entered through a front window. The residents reported a laptop computer and jewelry were taken.

A second burglary on Deerfield Lane was reported at approximately 3:35 p.m. the same day, when a resident returned home. According to Chief Powers, it appears that the second home was also entered through a front window.

Masonius has not been charged with the burglary of the second home, however he is considered a person of interest, Chief Powers said.

Aberdeen Det. Henry Chevalier made the arrest. Bail was set at $20,000 with no 10% option.

Masonius will remain at the Middlesex County Jail, where he is being held on charges of recieving stolen property.
