Police: Suspect Stabbed During Alleged Burglary of Aberdeen Apartment

Aberdeen Police are searching for the alleged burglar, who fled on foot after the incident

A burglary suspect was stabbed while allegedly burglarizing an Aberdeen apartment early Tuesday morning, according to .

Chief John Powers explained that on May 29, at about 4:25 a.m., a resident of Tree Haven III was alone watching TV in her bedroom when she heard a noise in her apartment.

The woman walked out into the hallway, saw a male subject, and confronted him. According to Powers, an altercation occurred and the woman stabbed the intruder with a steak knife.

The male suspect then fled the apartment by jumping from the second floor balcony, Powers said. The woman called police and went to a neighbor's apartment.

Responding officers searched the area with the assistance of a K-9 unit from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The female victim suffered a minor injury to her mouth, Powers said. Entry had been gained through a sliding glass door and nothing was reported taken.

Police described the suspect as, "a black male with a dark complexion and close-cropped hair." He was wearing a black Carhart-style hooded jacket and black and white ski-type mask that covered half of his face, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the detective bureau at 732-566-2054. P.O. Raymond Campbell, P.O. Anthony Valentino, Sgt. David Mauro, and Sgt. Henry Chevalier investigated. They were assisted by Sheriff’s Officer Joseph Aretino and his K-9 Ari.

A house on Greenwood Avenue in Aberdeen while a female resident was home. According to Chief John Powers, there is no evidence at this time that would link the two burglaries.
