Police: Aberdeen Woman Found Asleep in Courtroom After Striking 2 Vehicles

Police say the accident happened in the parking lot of the Aberdeen Township Municipal Building.

An Aberdeen woman was found catching a little shut-eye Wednesday after she allegedly struck two cars parked at the Aberdeen Township Municipal Building.

Police say Deborah Kelly, 60, of North Concourse, was driving while intoxicated when the accident occurred at about 10 a.m., according to a press release issued by Police Chief John Powers. 

A witness reported seeing Kelly's car strike both vehicles. Special Officer Michael Scarpa located the car also parked in the municipal lot but no driver was present. Department of Motor Vehicle records revealed that Kelly was the owner of the car.

Municipal Court was in session Wednesday and according to Powers, Kelly was located asleep in the courtroom. 

She was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and reckless driving.
